Enter the Whalefall
A downloadable zine
Enter the Whalefall is a system agnostic fantasy adventure inspired by whalefalls, transient ecosystems created when a whale corpse sinks into the deep sea.
Adventurers find themselves drawn to the coastal regions of the Astral Sea, an area of high magic, where shorefolk trade with undersea inhabitants. The region is currently menaced by a myriad of necromantically animated marine life. Why? because a bunch of oceanic necromancers are down in the abyssal depths trying to reanimate and control a dead whale god and then open a gate to the Primordial Sea. [someone should probably go down there and stop that...]
Within this 82 page zine, you can find:
- The First Beast (a beached whale corpse starting dungeon)
- The Bay (a hexmap of the Astral Sea underwater coastline, featuring Oyster Kings, a submersible/bathysphere device, and more zombified sharks than expected.
- The Depths of the Astral Sea (a deep ocean depthcrawl with siphonophore leviathans, anglerfish and more), which holds within...
- The Leviathan’s Graveyard (the regrowing corpse of a massive whale god, and the final dungeon)
[Moreover, while the zine contains system agnostic information on the various creatures and encounters adventurers will face, I am currently drafting some adapted stat-blocks for specific systems, which will be updated here soon in a free document.
Printed version of this zine (in A5) will also be available in the United Kingdom soon (with current plans for Norwich Games Con and Dragonmeet)]
Hope you all enjoy this adventure zine!! (and also how many weird fish I was able to include)
